Thred Last updated: March 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Thred ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our Chrome extension, website (thred.cc), and related services (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide:
- Account information — your name, email address, and password when you create an account.
- Content you create — notes, tags, reminders, tasks, and other data you add to Thred about your contacts and relationships.
- Support communications — messages you send us for help or feedback.
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data — features used, clicks, pages viewed, session frequency and duration.
- Device and browser data — browser type, operating system, Chrome extension version, and language preferences.
- Log data — IP address, access times, and referring URLs.
- Cookies — we use cookies and similar technologies for analytics and to remember your preferences. See Section 7 below.
Information from LinkedIn:
The Thred Chrome extension lets you capture publicly visible profile information (name, job title, company) from LinkedIn pages you visit. Every capture is initiated by you — Thred does not access your LinkedIn credentials, private messages, or any data not visible on the page. Thred does not scrape or bulk-collect data from LinkedIn.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and operate the Service — maintain your account, store your contacts and notes, deliver reminders.
- Improve the Service — analyze usage patterns, fix bugs, and build new features.
- Communicate with you — send transactional emails and, with your consent, product updates.
- Ensure security — detect abuse and enforce our Terms of Service.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to target advertising.
3. How We Share Your Information
We only share your information in these circumstances:
- Service providers — trusted third parties who help us operate the Service, including cloud hosting (e.g., AWS/GCP/Azure), analytics (e.g., Mixpanel), and payment processing (e.g., Stripe). We never store your full payment card details. All providers are contractually required to protect your data.
- Legal requirements — if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We will notify you of any such change.
- With your consent — for any other purpose, only with your explicit permission.
We do not share your CRM data (contacts, notes, relationship history) with other users unless you explicitly choose to via a team or sharing feature.
4. Data Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Aggregated, de-identified usage data may be retained indefinitely for product improvement.
5. Data Security
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls on a need-to-know basis, and regular security reviews.
No system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take it seriously.
